The Odessa regional blood transfusion center has a modern device “Mirasol” which is used to reduce pathogens such as viruses, parasites and bacteria in blood components, before they are transfused to patients. Inactivation of leukocytes is done to reduce certain reactions after transfusion, including GVHD (graft-versus-host reaction) and is an alternative to gamma irradiation. Mirasol disinfects the blood with riboflavin (vitamin B2) and ultraviolet radiation.
Our team bought the transfusion center, 25 disposable plasma irradiation kits. We hope that they will help patients recover as soon as possible.
